Karen Duong

Karen Duong, DO
Geriatric and Adult Psychiatrist

Dr. Duong holds a bachelor’s in biology from Texas A&M University and studied medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center where she was one of ten Rural Medicine Scholars.  As such, she worked with underserved communities throughout the state and took additional courses to learn to care for some of Texas’s most neglected patients. She completed general adult psychiatry residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and stayed on after graduation to further her scope of practice as a geriatric psychiatry fellow. She co-founded the first rural and public mental health psychiatry residency track for the state of Texas. She plays an active role in medical student and resident education and serves as the vice-chair for the American Psychiatric Association’s Public Psychiatry Fellowship program. ​
